Sony sells a new version of its Vaio FW 16.4-inch laptop designed for multimedia enthusiasts with its Blu-Ray.
The Sony Vaio FW54E embarks Intel PM45 chipset, an Intel Core 2 Duo T6600 (2.2 GHz), 4 GB DDR2 800 MHz (8 GB max), hard disk SATA 320GB 5400 rpm, Radeon graphics card Mobility HD4650 1GB dedicated GDDR3 HyperMemory 2.8 GB, 16.4-inch screen WXGA + + X-Black dual lamp (1600 × 900), a 1.3 megapixel webcam with microphone Motion Eye, a combo Blu-Ray / DVD burner, card reader and interfaces Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, HDMI (HDCP), VGA, Firewire 400, ExpressCard34, Headset, Microphone, Gigabit Ethernet and USB 2.0 (x3).
It weighs 3.2 Kg and measuring 384 x 261 x 29-37 mm. It runs Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and comes with Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 7, Adobe Reader 9, Roxi Easy Media Creator and various Sony utilities.
The Vaio FW54 is a sleek laptop aimed at people looking for a versatile oriented multimedia use thanks to the presence of its Blu-Ray. To take full advantage of HD, however it will be necessary to connect to a TV, the slab is not Full HD. With a resolution of 1600 × 900, the display area is still comfortable for a model of 16.4 inches. There is also a good compromise in terms of readability. Note that it has a backlight lamp twice for better consistency.
The Core 2 Duo will be at ease in most situations, provided that they do not ask too much in use multitasking. The dedicated graphics card ATI HD4650 can run most games at the time, possibly reducing the graphics settings for the most resource-intensive 3D.
