To disabling Active Desktop, Follow these instructions for dealing with the registry.

You see the "Active Desktop" only as a useless gimmick, it's why you want to disable this? To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
2. If not available, type DWORD value "NoActiveDesktop" and assign a value of "1".
